Things To Do in Bora Bora – Friends & Group Activities

Forget romantic dinners and long walks along the beach. If you’ve decided to journey to Bora Bora with an adventurous friend, Bora Bora’s best land and water activities are guaranteed to get your adrenaline flowing.

Jet Ski and Waverunner Adventures

These activities offer the same great views you get with an ordinary boat tour around the island, with the addition of exciting high speeds. Moana Adventures and Matira Jet Tours offer guided jet ski tours, or it’s also possible to rent jet skis on an hourly basis and explore at your own pace.

Bora Bora’s calm waters and steady breezes make it an ideal location for kite surfing. As the name indicates, this sport involves riding a surfboard while being pulled by a kite. This fast, thrilling sport is gaining popularity in Bora Bora, and you’ll likely be tempted to try it yourself after seeing dozens of pros coasting out on the water.

For the most part, Bora Bora’s rugged hiking trails are best explored with a guide. In addition to their experience navigating the typically unmarked trails, guides can share interesting stories and anecdotes as you traverse the island.

Mount Pahia can be climbed in about 4 hours, or it’s possible to hike partway up Bora Bora’s highest mountain, Mount Otemanu. The views are on par with those you’d experience on a helicopter tour of the island, but at a significantly lower cost.

Scuba Diving

Bora Bora’s clear waters and extraordinary marine life make scuba diving virtually a must-do activity for all visitors. Bora Bora offers dive sites suitable for every level, from the calm lagoon where beginners can learn the ropes, to dives outside the reef that will interest more experienced divers. Divers can expect to see rays, sharks, and even humpback whales, which migrate through the area from late July to November every year. Many of Bora Bora’s major resorts have dive companies on-site or there are plenty of independent companies around the island that will take you out.

Rent a Bicycle

At some point during your Bora Bora holiday, it’s important to slow down and take some time to savour the island’s magnificent landscapes. There’s no better way to leisurely discover Bora Bora than by bike. At only 18 miles in circumference, it’s possible to make your away around the entire island, searching for your own little piece of paradise. You can opt for a regular bicycle or a convenient battery-powered one.  There are also guided Island tours, with a 2-hour duration going from Matira to Vaitape and 4 hours for a full island tour. Aqua Bike Adventure

This unusual experience takes you underwater on a 2-seat scooter, with the help of an experienced diver. Riders wearing glass bubbles on their heads to provide air as they gradually descend 3 m underwater. It’s a one-of-a-kind way to view Bora Bora’s diverse aquatic life.

Helmet Dive

A fun alternative to traditional scuba diving, helmet diving allows you to walk around the ocean floor while wearing a water-tight helmet filled with oxygen. The dives typically take place in areas with lots of coral, where you’ll see bright schools of fish, rays, and other interesting underwater flora and fauna.
